Historic Vehicle Society of Ontario
The Historic Vehicle Society of Ontario
he Historic Vehicle Society of Ontario
(HVSO), was formed on October 4, 1954 with eight members attending the first meeting.
It received its charter as a charitable organization from the Ontario Government on May 7, 1959.
The mandate in 1959 was to preserve and display our Canadian automotive heritage.
Originally the society collected and stored vehicles and various items related to the early history of the automobile with a dream to establish a permanent museum.
In October, 1973 HVSO purchased what is now a 100 acre site and expanded its mandate by forming the
Canadian Transportation Museum and Heritage Village.
We see the results of this forward thinking. Since so little remains today of Southwestern Ontario's early historical footprints, we are thankful for the dedication and hard work of so many volunteers and staff throughout the years that preserved a little bit of yesterday for us today.
